Jailbreaking an iOS 5.1.1 device using Absinthe 2.0

Jailbreaking an iOS 5.1.1 device using Absinthe 2.0
Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for the newest release of Apples iOS operating system. After weeks of hard work and research, Pod2g has finally come up with a jailbreaking tool for iOS 5.1.1.
Jailbreaking is a tool used to download third party applications on your iOS device to customize it.
It can also be used to download applications for free compared to the paid ones in the App Store. (More on that later) Firstly, you should check if your device is compatible with iOS 5.1.1:
iPhone 4S
iPhone 4
iPhone 3GS
iPad (3rd gen)
iPad 2
iPad 1
iPod touch 3G
iPod touch 4G
Apple TV 2G
(Note: you should be using the latest version of iTunes)
Now, if you’re holding one of these devices in your hand right now, then you’re ready for iOS 5.1.1. Firstly, you should download Absinthe 2 from the following link:

Download Absinthe 2.0.4 for Windows

Download Absinthe 2.0.4 for Mac
For those of you who don’t know, Absinthe is an easy to use tool made for jailbreaking iOS devices. It was firstly released back in January for iOS 5.0 and now has been updated for iOS 5.1.1. It is known for its simplicity. Once you have downloaded Absinthe for your operating system, extract all its files to your desktop for easy access.
Using the standard pin connector which came with your device, connect your device to your PC or Mac. You should first back up everything on your device. To do that, you will first have to launch iTunes. Once your device is connected to your computer, right click on your device in the sidebar and click ” Back up”.

After backing up your device, update it using iTunes. On the general tab, select update and wait for your device to upgrade. It may take 1 hour to 7 hours depending on the speed of your internet connection.
Once your device has been upgraded to iOS 5.1.1, you’re ready for the jailbreak. Open Absinthe. If you’re using Windows, make sure to right click on the Absinthe file and select to run as administrator. Once Absinthe is open, you will see some text information along with a jailbreak button.  If your device is connected properly, the Jailbreak button should be available.

Click it. Your device will restore. Don’t be alarmed. Just let it do its job and don’t touch it! You can see the progress of the jailbreak from the progress bar on your computer.
When the process is complete and you’re confronted with your device’s lock screen, the ever familiar Cydia icon will be present on the home screen. The device is now successfully jailbroken untethered and you can now install any extensions or packages via Cydia, provided that your device is supported by them.
Congratulations, you just jailbreaked your iOS device. Now, if you’re like me, and want to install free applications, head over to our guide of Installing applications on your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad via Installous. If you have any queries or problems, you can email me at shujaaimran@gmail.com or you can post your question on our facebook page. I”ll get back to you as soon as possible.
