Apple is expected to release an “iPad Mini” on September 12th alongside with the new iPhone 5. It might announce it, or it might not announce it till December. We never know. An iPad Mini has been expected ever since the first iPad came in March, 2010. Now the iPad Mini is needed more than ever with competing tablets such as the Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus 7. Today, I’ll tell you about all the latest rumors about the iPad Mini:
The iPad Mini will NOT have a Retina Display:
It is very unlikely that the iPad mini will have a retina display. It’s screen quality it expected to be the same as the iPad 2. Also, the screen size is supposed to be 7.5 or 8 inches. Steve Jobs once said that smaller tablets are impossible as the screen is too small for comfort. If the iPad mini comes, this will indicate a change in the post Jobs era. The iPad mini will probably have the same ratio of height to width as the current iPad, in a move to support developers to not have to change their graphic production workflow to accomodate yet another iOS device size.
It will be thinner and have a smaller dock connector:
According to a few reports, the new iPad Mini will be as thin as the iPod Touch 4G, with only a 7.2mm thickness. That is a nice decrease from the 9.4mm iPad 3. This will make the Also, the new iPad is expected to have a smaller dock connecter, to accommodate the device’s size reduction. This will make all kinds of old Apple accessories unusable with the iPad Mini unless Apple releases some type of adaptor, which it should.
It will run iOS 6:
Apple announced its newest iOS system this year in June at WWDC. Now, it looks like the new iPad Mini and iPhone 5 will come preinstalled with iOS 6. iOS 6 has over 200 new features, check them all out here.
It’s price will be lower than the iPad 3:
If Apple wants to compete with other mini tablets, it will have to reduce its price. The new price will be around $249 to compete with other tablets. This device is rumored to only come in an 8GB model. This will be a disappointment to all those movie fans who want to keep a lot of movies in their iPad Mini.
It WILL have a camera:
As with the Kindle Fire, there is no camera included. A case photo that has recently been published, has shown that the iPad Mini does have a rear facing camera. I personally think the camera should at least be 5 Megapixels.
