It’s been over a year since PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has blocked youtube in Pakistan. As you know, this has caused many problems for all us Pakistanis. A lot of us know how to secretly unlock Youtube using proxies and VPNs on our computer, but most of us are unaware of how to unlock/unblock youtube on an iOS or android device. Keep on reading this post and I’ll tell you ways to unlock Youtube on your iOS or Android device in Pakistan.
Do you want to unlock youtube on your iPhone in Pakistan?
Or do you want to unlock youtube on your Android device?
Here’s how to do exactly that.
There are currently two apps that are available both on iOS and Android to unlock youtube on your mobile device in Pakistan. A third app “Spotflux for iOS” is planning an iOS release this month while the Android version is currently in the works. (I’ll update this guide when it has released)
- HotSpot Shield VPN
TunnelBear is a free app that can be used to trick web sites into believing that you are located in a different country. Put simply, this means that if you live outside the UK you can route your web traffic through TunnelBear VPN to access sites and services such as BBC iPlayer, while anyone outside the States can use the app to again access to the likes of Pandora and Hulu. For you, it means that you can access Youtube from Pakistan.
The first time you launch the app you’ll be invited to sign into your account or sign up for a free one – all you need to do is provide your name and email address. Before you can get started, you’ll need to verify your account by clicking a link in the confirmation email that’s sent out to you – so remember to use a real email address – and once this has been done you can log in and get started.
On Android, the first time you turn on tunnelling, you have to agree to your web traffic being ‘intercepted’. This is a requirement for your traffic to be routed through the appropriate servers, so you have little choice but to agree.
TunnelBear starts you off with with a free 5o0 MB per month. If you’re not too demanding, 500 MB will be more than enough for you. But even if you need more, TunnelBear has amazing plans. TunnelBear offers unlimited data for 3 months for a cheap price of $ 3.99. If you are willing to pay for a longer term, you can get unlimited data for 12 months at the price of $ 29.99. Amazing.
Additionally, if you tweet mentioning @TunnelBear, you can get an extra 1 GB for free. You can get more details in the app interface.
It is very hard to find fault with TunnelBear – the app is free, does what it needs to do, and is very easy to use. The cute bear look may not be to everyone’s taste, but this is a minor quibble with an app which solves a problem that confounds many iOS and Android users. It could be argued that the lack of options is a negative point, but in reality it works in TunnelBear’s favour. In the end, TunnelBear is an amazing app which we recommend for you. Trust us. It is awesome. Give it a try.

Pakistani users are very familiar with HotSpot Shield. It’s free on PC or Mac while the iOS or Android version causes you to spend a few bucks.
First-time users can enjoy seven days of free protection and data compression provided by Hostpot Shield, which turns out to be very useful. Additional installation is required to get the Shield erected: as soon as you launch the app it will guide you to its Web site to download the profile you’ll install on your iPhone, depending on whether you’d like to have the protection shield always on (recommended for novice users) or manually activated (for advanced users).
But as soon as you have that profile installed, you’ll notice the difference in Web page loading times. One fact you should know… Hotspot Shield cut down average loading times by more than 30 percent.
You should note that on iOS, HotSpot Shield is only available on the iPhone. You can download the iPhone app on your iPad, but it will look like this:
Overall, Hotspot Shield VPN is a nice app that does a pretty decent job of protecting your privacy by compressing and encrypting Internet traffic to keep spies off your smartphone. However, there is room for improvement, because you get exactly the same performance, even if you choose a subscription plan. Subscription plans start at $1 for 1 month or you can pay $12 for a full year.
If you’re concerned about your mobile network security while using possibly un-guarded apps or websites, or you need to virtually relocate your connection, the seven-day trial of Hotspot Shield may be just the thing for you. Otherwise, you can pay a cheap $1 per month.
