After months of waiting, the Evad3rs jailbreak team finally released an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solution namely “Evasi0n”. The general response has been positive, but some users have born the brunt of one or two teething issues. After the release of Evasi0n, some people experienced long reboot times and had problems with the Weather app. Well, thankfully, the Evad3rs team has come through with a swift fix via Cydia.
If you’re an iPhone user and have been waiting for that fix, the process is simple:
Step 1: Open up Cydia from your iPhone’s home screen.
Step 2: Click on Changes. After a short amount of loading, you should be able to see two new files named “evasi0n 6.0-6.1 Untether” and “UIKit Tools”. These are the two you’ll need to upgrade.
Step 3: Click the “Upgrade” button on the upper-right hand corner, and both the packages should install without any problems. Alternatively, you can install one of these packages at a time. Your device should reboot, and if Cydia doesn’t force you to reboot your iPhone, then reboot it yourself.
Other than this Weather app issue, the jailbreak didn’t seem to cause any other problems. It was nearly impossible for jailbreakers to install their favorite tweaks before because of the traffic-lambasted Cydia, but things are now returning to normal.
iOS 6 has been very hard to jailbreak this time around, but with the expert team of “Evad3rs”, I don’t think that any jailbreak is impossible.
